Fall clean up with roll off containers and great neighbors.
With summer gone and fall upon us, the days will be shorter. Howling winds, uprising storms and the occasional hurricane will bring down debris. Don’t be caught with the messiest yard or neighborhood on the block!
Having heavy storms in your area greatly increases the amount of debris on top of the fall “yard waste”. Branches, leaves, sticks and even entire trees can create hazards around your house, sidewalks and street gutters. Roll off containers are the perfect answer to keeping America beautiful.
Renting a roll off container is a very easy and cost efficient way to clean up after a heavy storm for both you and your neighbors. You can share the cost, clean up duties and have a fun block party when all the debris is cleared.
This might also be a great time to clean up roadside trash. Have an adult take the kids with gloves and plastic bags to pick up the litter along the roads or parks.
How to organize a fall-clean up in your local neighborhood!
1. Work with your friends and neighbors: Work together and find the greatest spot to place your roll off container. Make sure not to block any roads or driveways!
2. Share the cost: With multiple people paying for the roll off container it’s much more cost efficient. The cost of hiring a commercial trash company to remove your debris can be very costly.
3. Work together as a whole: when we all chip in and help one another out, we come together as a community and strengthen our neighborly bonds.
4. Be safer: Studies have shown that after a big storm the affected area can be a dangerous place, having more people will make clean up quick and easy.
5. Make it fun: add a scavenger hunt to get the kids involved. There are a lot of great nature lists on the internet.
Be careful this fall, if a big storm hits make sure to reach out to your community to see if you can all come together and do one big clean up! After all, the more the merrier! Call R and R Container Services to book your roll off container today so that you can clean up tomorrow.

Dumpster bags vs container rentals – to bag or not to bag that is the question.
Since dumpster bags are rather cheap and lightweight, it might leave you thinking that dumpster bags are the way to go. However this is not always the case.
Dumpster bags are awesome for small, lightweight projects or a quick cleanup. If you’re going to be doing a big renovation, moving or using it for solids. (i.e. Bricks, Rocks, Concrete etc.) A dumpster bag will not be the best option. Most of the time, the company won’t be able to lift the bags because of the weight and bulk of the load, leaving you with a dumpster bag that you might even have to pay for because they can’t lift it. This could lead to a failed pickup attempt by the waste company leaving you where you started. Trying to find somewhere to put all this waste! If this is the case, you will be paying much more than if you had just originally rented a dumpster.
Here the pros and cons to using a dumpster bag:
Dumpster Bag Pros:
• Great for small projects/light material
• You can rent them for as long as you need too
• Looks a lot cooler.
Dumpster Bag Cons:
• They are only good for small projects/light materials
• They have roughly 20% less room than our 15 yard dumpsters
• They’ll have to be placed near a street or a wide area
• Not very sturdy and can easily topple over spilling the contents
• Slow pickups.
Container Rental Pros:
• Very easy to find the right size for your project
• We’ll accept almost any household waste (see our article on what you can and can’t throw into a dumpster!)
• Very fast delivery, most of the time being able to get to your property within 24-48 hours!
• Cost effective
Container Rental Cons:
• Absolutely none!
While dumpster bags have a purpose, it is indeed a very small one. Most of the time the better option is to just rent a roll off container. Or you might risk having to buy that ripped dumpster bag!

What you can and can’t place into roll-off containers?
Normally, when you rent a dumpster or container you want to use it to its full potential. When you do so, you will feel like you got your money’s worth. A lot of the times you start tossing things out into your dumpster and you’ll have a huge smile on your face with all the free space. Hold on now, before we go throwing out everything in the house. We need to see what is allowed to be placed inside your roll off container! Just because it is a dumpster doesn’t mean you can throw whatever you want into it. Containers have feelings too.
You have to remember, that whatever you throw in there has to be dealt with somehow! And if you’re using a legitimate company like R & R Container Service they’ll have their own rules to adhere to. Below is a list of items you can and can’t place in a dumpster so that you never find yourself in a bad (and perhaps expensive) situation.
Items you can, and some you probably shouldn’t place inside your roll off containers.
It’s pretty simple and there are definitely way more things you can place in a dumpster then you can’t. So don’t think it’s easier to just not rent a dumpster because you have to pay attention to what you’re putting in it. The rules for a dumpster are no different than for your regular trash can. If it’s hazardous to throw away at home then it’s hazardous to throw away in a dumpster.
Items that can be thrown away in a dumpster include (but are not limited to):
Yard Stuff: leaves, rocks, dirt, wood, etc
Household items: as long as you don’t have any completely toxic furniture, and it doesn’t break any of the rules listed below, you should be fine cleaning out your house!
Construction leftovers: nails, planks, shingles, bricks, old tools, metal.
Furniture: you can almost always put old furniture into dumpsters, that being: old mattresses, sofas, tables, rugs.
Electronics: TVs, lamps, microwaves, computers, ect.
Things you shouldn’t throw into a dumpster:
Home Repair items: Paint, Propane, kerosene.
Gardening tools: herbicides, fertilizer, pool chemicals, pesticides, rodent killer
Household cleaners: drain cleaners, bleach, floor cleaner, ammonia, batteries
Things for your car: antifreeze, gasoline, brake fluid, motor oil, radiator cleaner
Things with mercury: fluorescent bulbs, thermometers, thermostats, iodine
Other: radioactive waste, explosives, babies, ammunition, medical waste, asbestos and any other “Special Waste” as defined by applicable Local, State, or Federal laws
Hopefully, knowing what you can and can’t place into a roll-off container will aid in a successful dumpster rental. Be sure to check with your local government website on the proper ways to dispose of the items roll off container rental companies can’t take.

Roll off containers are the perfect answer to Fall remodeling jobs.
Fall is a great time to start those remodeling projects you’ve been putting off, especially replacing the siding on your home. In the Spring, the remodeling fever strikes everyone and contractors are busy, busy bees. Prices go up on jobs as well as materials – the law of supply and demand.
In the fall, as business starts to slack off, contractors get a little more “hungry.” Usually, in very cold climates construction companies want to keep their crews working as long as possible before shutting down for the year. You’ll find quotes for replacing siding lower, especially when you get at least 3 written estimates from contractors who know they are competing for your business.
Siding is almost as fashionable as ladies dresses. The Spring’s siding showcase has to be cleared off the floors to make room for next year’s designs. You might be so lucky as to find siding on sale or a discounted rate.
Plus, the mid-range temperatures of Fall are ideal for vinyl siding installation. The heat of summer can make vinyl expand. If it is installed in hot weather and nailed too tightly, it might buckle or crack when it contracts in the cold weather of winter.
Another big plus for replacing your siding in the Fall is that it can help to lower heating bills. Gaps in old siding or the lack of house wrap on your home can let in Old Man Winter. If you have new siding installed this fall, a competent siding crew will caulk gaps in the construction before putting on the new siding. If your home doesn’t have house wrap, this is an ideal opportunity to put it on before it is covered up by the new siding.
Now that you’ve decided to tackle the siding this Fall you’ll need a roll off container to haul away the old siding and materials. Contact R & R Container Service today at 770-975-9554, or browse the website for more information about container dimensions or our hauling services.

Yard clean up from summer afternoon and evening thunderstorms is becoming a way of life for Marietta Georgia and the surrounding areas.
Georgia blue skies inevitably and quickly turn into dark clouds, followed by torrential rains, gusty winds, claps of thunder and intimidating white/blue lightning.
Some storms even cause a great amount of mischief, knocking out power, flooding streets and yards and felling trees.
Were you one of the unlucky ones to be left a mess of downed trees, power lines and other storm debris after severe thunderstorms swept through Georgia on July 15th, 2015?
One of the areas hit hardest by that line of storms was metro Atlanta. Numerous trees were blown down in the Battle Ridge subdivision off Burnt Hickory Road just west of Marietta. One of those trees fell onto a house on Caisson Drive after snapping off at the base of its trunk.
The forecast: more of the same. The storms can be expected near daily, or at the very least, a few times a week.
It coincides with high temperatures, which results in more rain as a counter to hot days. Should anyone be surprised? Of course not.
Georgia’s weather is typical of a humid subtropical climate with most of the state having mild winters and hot, muggy summers. Thunderstorms thrive under these conditions. The two most basic elements that cause a thunderstorm to develop are moisture and rapidly rising hot air.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service, approximately 1,800 thunderstorms are occurring at any given time. That is about 16-million thunderstorms every year. All that adds up to a lot of storm detritus.
Are you prepared for summer storm yard clean up? Don’t be caught with downed trees and limbs or clogged drains from storm debris. R and R Container Service has fast delivery and pick-up and is perfect for any size yard clean up job. Prices are afforded and based on your needs, in Kennesaw, Acworth, Woodstock and Bartow, GA. Marietta, Georgia is, without a doubt, a beautiful community which many of us call home. There are many great local businesses, friendly neighbors, and wonderful schools for our kids. It’s a happy and peaceful community today. But, in the early 30 years of Marietta history, the town had seen more excitement and milestones than most towns see in a century.
Before there was an Atlanta or a Chattanooga there was Marietta, Georgia. A small cluster of homes near the Cherokee town of Kennesaw were reported as early as 1824. An early road in what would become Cobb County crossed the “Shallow Ford” of the Chattahoochee and ran just south of these settlers.
The state of Georgia formed 10 counties from previously owned Cherokee land in 1832. One of those, Cobb county, was named after US representative Thomas Willis Cobb. Marietta was reported to be named after Cobb’s wife, Mary. Georgia legislature recognized the town of Marietta officially in 1834.
A few years later, the US ARMY Corps of Engineers was chosen to head the Western and Atlantic Railroad with its home base in Marietta. Due to this project, business began to boom. This was a significant turn of events for the little town. Upon completion of the railroad project, the sport of horse racing gained popularity. These races took place in the approximate area of the present-day Marietta Welcome Center and Visitors Bureau. Tanyards started to become a thriving business during this time as well. In 1848, the town incorporated and elected its first mayor, John Glover. By 1850, the major portion of the city’s income was dependent on the railroad business and tanyards. The Georgia Military Institute was built in 1851. And, the first bank was opened in 1855. However, during the 1850s, three major fires destroyed most of the city. William Tecumseh Sherman moved in and occupied the town in 1864 during the Civil War.
